This depends on the scale of your project. The minimum turnaround time is 3 weeks; 1 week for the design process, 2 weeks for the printing process.

Do you work with printed images or just digital format?

Both. The albums we produce are professionally printed so printed photos do need to be converted to digital format. albumz can take care of this for you!

How do I get my photos to you?

The easiest way is to post them on a CD, DVD or USB stick to PO Box 832, South Yarra VIC 3141.

Printed images can be delivered to this secure postal address too.

You can also upload images to Dropbox.

How do I upload photos to Dropbox?

Step 1 – go to www.dropbox.com & create an account
Step 2 – Click on the “files” tab on the top left of the screen
Step 3 – Click on the “new folder” icon across the top & create a folder (do not enter email yet)
Step 4 – Click on the folder you created
Step 5 – Click on the “upload” icon across the top & click “choose files”
Step 6 – Select images for upload & click “choose”. Files show a green tick when they have
uploaded. Click on “done” when finished.
Step 7 – Comments can be made for individual images by clicking on the relevant photo.
Step 8 – Click on the “share this folder” icon at the top & follow the prompts.

What file types will you accept for my photos?

JPEG, RAW, PNG & TIFF files are accepted.

What file size is required?

High resolution files provide greater detail and therefore deliver a richer quality to the finished product. They can also be enlarged more than low resolution files. Smaller files can still be used to create beautiful memoirs, they just possess some limitations.

How much does an average photo book cost?

The design process for photo books typically ranges from 10 to 30 hours.  Here are the details of some projects to give you an idea of how long certain projects have taken to create.

i. Heidi’s First 5 Years – 10 hours

A Mother’s Day pressie done in total secrecy…

Most of the 160 photos provided were taken by professional photographers so editing of images wasn’t really needed. Time spent on this album focused on the look and feel. Finished with a beautiful blue linen fabric and silver embossing, it made a stunning gift. So much so that it brought one grandparent to tears!

ii. Elise’s Journey – 20 hours

A little angel’s start to life…

Some journey’s into our world are not easy for some, and this book tells the story of this angel’s triumph. A lot of the 200 images provided were low quality. Editing was an important part in making the images less grainy, restore depth, correct colour tones and generally enhance them. Text was woven through the photo book to capture details and feelings of the time. Design was equally important in telling this story. Encased in soft, white Italian leather this album is a very special keepsake for this determined girl.

iii. Europe – 30 hours

6 countries in 5 weeks & 1200 photos!

The brief for this album – to create a family memoir for the trip of a lifetime. Lots of photos were snapped that needed sorting, eliminating, sequencing and editing. Colour accents were used to create a flow and to highlight the different countries visited with ease. A stunning album cover was created using a photo of great significance to this family from the holiday. A second album was derived from the master copy for a gift.

iv. A Mother’s Legacy – 100 hours

A long awaited vision comes to life…

For over 10 years this project had been in the mind of this client – a book to honour his late mother & the recipes she is remembered for cooking.  Each family member received a copy.  All services were utilised in creating this project.  Old printed photos were converted to digital format & restored, a day of cooking her recipes was photographed along with recipes from the original recipe book. The design service was key in pulling the various elements together & bringing my client’s vision to life, just the way he had imagined it for all those years.

Because each photo book is unique, an hourly rate is charged for each project. Projects can be tailored to specific budgets. On average, the photo book design costs range from $400 to $800.  Printing costs vary depending on the materials chosen and the number of pages included.

How do I pay?

To engage albumz, a payment of 50% of the initial invoice must be received.  This acts as a deposit to proceed.  The initial invoice is based on an estimate. The final invoice amount may vary to the initial invoice amount. Upon completion of the album design, the balance must be paid within 7 working days according to the final invoice. This will include printing costs. Once payment has been received your photo book will be sent to print.  Payment can be made via credit card, paypal or direct deposit.

Which locations do you service?

Albumz can assist anyone across the globe. All proofing is done online.

Will the colour of the images in my photo book look exactly like the digital preview?

That depends on the settings of your screen. Every computer screen has its own colour & brightness settings & this may affect the way you see your digital preview. The only way to ensure you are seeing the colours accurately is to calibrate your computer. Albumz calibrates its computers to industry standards, as does the printing house albumz uses.

In general, images usually appear brighter on screen than in print.

How long do you keep our photos on file?

A copy of your photo book is kept on file with the printing house indefinitely. It is not reproduced without your consent. Down the track if you wish to order another book you can! Once your photo book has been received, your images are deleted from albumz’ system. Copies of processed images can be provided beforehand should you wish.
